Poirot loves sunbathing. |
Today he was sleeping under the sun - looked very confortable. |
He is so cute when he is sleeping. I can't take my eyes off him! |

The weather was very good and sunny. I had to put a lot of sun screen on! |
I thought Poirot would be scared to be on a canoe, but actually he was OK, and sitting quietly. |
Occasionally, he curiously looked down onto the water. Be careful, don't fall into the water, Poirot! |
My husband rowed all the time, so all I had to do was just to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. |
Poirot tried to come onto my lap, but I did not allow him to do so - I was afraid he would fall into the water! |
He eventually gave up and lay down under the tiny shade. I guess it was too hot for him. |
He was just relaxing and almost fell asleep... |
Today we came to Clam Box in Ipswich. This shop is famous for fried clams. We arrived 10 min before it's opening at 11:00 am, but several people were already in line and waiting. |
Since Poirot was with us, we sat at a table outside. He was quietly waiting for our food to arrive! |
This is the fried clam plate. It came with onion rings and cole slaw - a huge portion! The clams were not bad, but not as good as I expected... My husband preferred the fried clams at Clam Shack. My favorite is Neptune Oyster's one. |
After the meal, we went to White Farms for some ice cream. |
A statue of cow is the sigh for this shop. |
SO many flavors were available, so it took us some time to decide what we want, but eventually decided to get coffee and ram raisin. |
Poirot should not eat raisins, so my husband gave him a little bit of coffee ice cream. He was so happy to eat it! |
Today we went to East by North East, a Chinese fusion restaurant in Cambridge. The chef was born in the US, but his parents are from Taiwan. |
In addition to the normal menu, today's specials were written on the blackboard. |
I ordered the ginger soda, but it was not very good - it tasted very diluted, and it was just like water with a few drops of ginger juice... |
The amuse bouche. I was not listening to our waitress when she was explaining the dish, so I don't know what it was. |
The pickled vegetable plate. It was very colorful and beautiful, and I guess the vegetables were fresh, but just pickles. |
The crispy pork belly with mantou bread. |
The pork belly was very tender, but the mantou was dry and dense. I was expecting more soft buns... |
The pork and crab wantons in seafood broth. I didn't taste the crab... It was not a very memorable dish. |
From today's specials, the crispy daikon cake, fiddleheads, house cured pork belly and XO sauce. I loved the fiddleheads! |
This was my favorite dish of the day, the egg noodles with peas, pickled ramps, asparagus, and monkfish liver sauce. |
The noodles were very chewy, which I loved, and the monkfish liver sauce was very creamy yet so Asian. I loved this dish! |
Tonight, I joined the “dining club” that my husband and his colleagues organize. The restaurant they selected this time was Tawakal Halal Cuisine, a Somali restaurant, in East Boston. I opened around October last year. I had never had Somali food, so I didn’t know what to expect. |
The entrance was so small that we almost missed it. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the building. |
The first appetizer we ordered was the fried yucca. The spicy sauce was a good match to the yucca. |
We also ordered the chicken soup. It had many layers of different flavors. |
And the goat soup. I don’t eat goat.... |
This is the chicken sambusa. |
This one is the beef sambusa. |
This one is called the fish soor, which is the traditional East African grits. |
