Trip to Spain Day 4 (4)(Sevilla)

セビーリャ最後の夜はこのレストラン、Vineria San Telmo で夕食。 The last dinner in Seville was at Vineria San Telmo.

ここは色々なお料理がタパススタイルで楽しめます。これはマグロのソテー。 Here you can enjoy various tapas and wine.  This was the sautéed tuna.

スパニッシュオムレツとフライドポテト。 The tortilla Española and fried potatoes.

フライドポテトには3種類のソースが付いてきて、異なる味を楽しめます。 The potatoes came with 3 different sauces, and we enjoyed them all.

イカ墨のパスタ。 The squid-ink pasta.

牛肉のソテー。どれもおいしかったです。 The sautéed beef.  I liked all the dishes.

夕食後、レストランからホテルまでゆっくり歩きながらセビーリャの街を堪能しました。美しい大聖堂も見納めです。 After the dinner, we slowly walked from the restaurant to the hotel to enjoy the last view of Seville.

ライトアップされた大聖堂は太陽の下で見るのとはまた違った表情。 The cathedral was beautifully lit up.  It showed the different face from the one under the sun light.

ヒラルダの塔もより神秘的に見えます。 The Giralda also looked more mystifying....

Trip to Spain Day 4 (3)(Sevilla)

大聖堂見学の後は、街を当てもなく散策。アンダルシア地方はタイルで有名ですが、本当に待ちのいたるところでタイルの看板や表札が見られます。タイルその1。 After visiting the cathedral, we wandered around the city.  Andalusia is famous for tiles, and you can find signs made of tiles everywhere.  Tiles No. 1.

タイルその6。街中で見かけるタイルは青と白の色使いのものが多いのですが、これは黄色を基調として、カラフルで私好み。 Tiles No. 6.  Tiles in the city are mostly in blue/white color, but these ones are the yellow-based.  I like the colorful ones like these.

グアダキビル川に沿って歩いていきます。 We kept walking along the Guadalquivir river.

グアダキビル川のほとりにある黄金の塔 (Torre del Oro)。13世紀に立てられたこの塔は、敵の船が入港するのを見張るためのものだったそうです。建設当時は塔の回り一面にタイルが張ってあり、光の反射で金色に輝いて見えたことから黄金の塔と名付けられたらしいです。 The Tower of Gold (Torre del Oro) by the river.  This tower was constructed in 13th century as a military watchtower to control access to the city by enemies.  When it was built, the exterior of the tower was covered with golden tiles that reflected the sun, and this may be the reason for its name.

散歩の後、ホテルから徒歩30秒くらいのところにあるタパスのお店で休憩。いくつかタパスを注文したのですが値段の割りにおいしくなかったです。 After we came back, we took a break at a tapas restaurant just at next door to our hotel.  We ordered several small plates, but they were expensive and not very good...

もちろんたくさんのハムがぶら下がっています。 Of course there were many ham hanging from the ceiling.

歩いていて見つけたカフェ。 The cafe we found during walk.

ケーキは見た目が素朴なものが多いです。 Cakes were very plain looking.

この中のいくつかを買ってみたのですが、粉っぽくてあまりおいしくなかった...。 We bought some of these small sweets, but they were very powdery and did not like them very much...

Trip to Spain Day 4 (2)(Sevilla)

スペイン広場からホテルに戻ってきて少し休憩した後、セビーリャ大聖堂へ。ここは大きさが世界第3位 (1位はローマのサンピエトロ大聖堂、2位はロンドンのセントポール寺院)。ついに世界三大大聖堂を制覇！ We took a short break after returning from the Plaza de España to our hotel, then went to the Seville Cathedral (Catedral de Santa María de la Sede de Sevilla).  This cathedral is known as the third largest church in the world (following St. Peter's Basilica and St Paul's Cathedral).  Now I concured all three largest churches in the world!!

近付いて見ると飾りの精巧さに驚かされます。 Getting closer, you would notice how detail the decorations are.

いよいよ中に入ります。写真左側に見えているのは巨大なパイプオルガン。 Inside the cathedral. The stuff on the left side of the picture is the big pipe organ.

これが正面から見たオルガンです。 This is the front view of the organ.

天井にも精巧な装飾。 The beautifully decorated ceiling.

これはこの大聖堂の見所のひとつ、Retablo Mayor。木彫りの上に金メッキがしてある祭壇画の一種で、Pierre Dancart という職人さんが一人で作り上げたものだそうです。 Retablo Mayor, the altarpiece designed and created by the Flemish craftsman Pierre Dancart.

これは世界最大の祭壇画だそうです。その大きさ、精巧さに圧倒されて、写真や言葉ではその美しさは到底表せません。行って、自分の目で見るしかないですね。 This is the largest and richest altarpiece in the world and one of the finest examples of Gothic woodcarving (and gilding).  No way to express its beauty by my camera.  It was so golden and I don't know how to describe it with words...  You just have to go there and see it.

コロンブスのお墓 (Tumba de Cristóbal Colón)。 The tomb of Christopher Columbus (Tumba de Cristóbal Colón).  The sarcophagus of Columbus is carried by four large statues, representing the kingdoms of Aragón, Castille, León and Navarra.

そのほかにも、広い敷地中どこもかしこも豪華に飾られています。日本のようなわび・さびとはまったく無縁です。 And everywhere else is lavishly decorated as well.

もちろんステンドグラスもたくさんあります。 Of course there are many stained glasses, too.

高名な（多分）主教様の石棺。 The sarcophagus of (probably) the distinguished bishop.

Juan de Arfe y Villafañe という職人の作品。 A work by Juan de Arfe y Villafañe, a Spanish engraver, goldsmith, artist, anatomist and author.

ほかにもた～くさんのものが飾られていますが、多すぎて何がなんだか覚えていられません。 There are so many other stuff, but they were just to many to remember.

絵画もいろいろ。当たり前ですが全部キリスト教関連の絵です。 Many paintings as well.

ここからいくつかの小部屋を通り抜けてヒラルダの塔への登り口まで行きます。それぞれの小部屋にはまた豪華な装飾品がたくさん展示してあります。 From here, we walked to the entrance to the Giralda Tower, going through many small rooms.

天井もそれぞれの部屋ごとに違う模様が施されています。 The ceiling of each room is decorated differently.

銀 (めっき?) の置物。 A silver workpiece.

キリスト教関連の絵画や装飾品って何気にグロテスクなものが多いですよね。まあそれぞれに意味があるのでしょうが。 I am not familiar with Christian relics, but what is the meaning of this?  Why is a girl standing on other girls' heads?

これもちょっと怖い。なぜに生首が??? This was kind of scary...  Why the head???

もちろん、とても美しいものもあります。黄金の王冠。エメラルド (?) などの宝石も埋め込まれています。 Of course there are many beautiful relics as well.  This is the golden crown decorated with gemstones (emerald?).

これも金。 These are also gold.

そしてこれも。 And this one, too.

またまたこれも。金や銀はスペインが新大陸から持ち帰ったものなんでしょうね。 I believe gold and silver were brought back to Spain from the "New World" during it's golden age.

ここにある階段からヒラルダの塔へ登ることができます。 This is the entrance to Giralda Tower.

たくさんの階段を上らないといけないので普段運動不足の私には結構つらい...。 Many steps to the top of the tower...  I don't usually do a lot of exercises, so it was very tough for me...

途中たくさん窓があるので外を見るふりをして一休み。 There are many windows on the way.  I stopped at the windows several times to take a rest, pretending I was just enjoying the view.

やっと一番上まで登ってきました。塔にはたくさんの鐘がぶら下がっています。今でも使われているのでしょうか? Finally we climbed up to the top.  We saw many bells hanging.  I am not sure if they are still in use now.

頂上は結構高く、周りには他に高い建物もないので、すごく見晴らしがいいです。 The top of the tower is actually quite high and there is nothing to block the view from the tower.  We enjoyed the beautiful view of the city of Sevilla.

グアダルキビール川もくっきり見えます。 The Quinto Centenario Bridge over the Guadalquivir.

昨日訪れた闘牛場も見えました。 We could see the bullring that we visited yesterday as well.

これが、今登ってきたヒラルダの塔。これは大聖堂ができる前にあったモスクの名残で、かつてはモスクの尖塔だったもの。以前モロッコのマラケシュで見たミナレットによく似ている感じ。あれを真似して作ったのかな? This is the Giralda Twoer we just came down from.  This is a former minaret that was converted to a bell tower for the cathedral.  This looks very similar to the minaret that I visited in Marrakesh, Morocco.  I wonder if that one was the model for this minaret.
