In addition my husband ordered the fish-shaped dessert (sweet red bean paste inside the dough). He ate too much!!! |

The freshly cooked rice in the stone bowl is served at you table. |
These dishes in this picture were only a part of the free appetizers – we had more than 10 dishes in total! |
This savory egg dish was also the free dish. It was hot and very airy - we all love this one. |
The seafood Korean pancake. It had a lot of big chunks of squid and shrimp. |
The Korean BBQ (beef short rib). |
The BBQ tasted very good when wrapped in a leaf of lettuce! |
This is called “Al Jigae” – a spicy hot pot with fish (cod?) roe. This is one of our friend’s favorite, so we have to order this one! |
Poirot and the Marine Corps War Memorial. |
And Poirot between the front legs of the lion. |
Across the river, we could see the Capitol and the Washington Monument very well. |
We had a dinner reservation at a restaurant, but we were tired and also not very hungry. So we decided to cancel our reservation, order takeout foods and eat them in our room. I checked Yelp and found an Afghan restaurant (Food Corner Kabob House) with good reviews near our hotel. While we were waiting for our order, they served us a small cup of the chicken soup. It was a bit spicy and good. |
I ordered the Shami Kabob, broiled ground beef. It came with rice and salad. I liked the flavor of the beef (lots of spices). |
My husband ordered the Afghan style gyro platter. I didn't taste it, but he said it was OK (he preferred mine). |
Each dish came with the Afghan style bread (which was very good). |
After his own dinner, Poirot started to relax and lie down on the sofa. |
But as soon as I hopped into my bed, he woke up and jumped on me! Well, it was a special occasion, so I allowed him to sleep with me. |
The Chinese characters under “FUDDRUCKERS” sign say “the best burger in the world”! |
After walking around, we arrived at the restaurant, Zaytinya for lunch. This restaurant serves Mediterranean/Middle Eastern foods (Greek/ Turkish/Lebanese) in small-plate style. |
The initial of the restaurant (Z) written with the balsamic vinegar in the olive oil. |
We got puffy pita bread – it was yummy~ |
My second dish is called "Kotopoulo Youbetsi" -chicken, orzo, tomato, kefalograviera cheese. I liked acidity of the tomato sauce. |
My husband's second dish, "Garides me anitho" - sautéed shrimp, dill, shallots, mustard, lemon juice. The shrimp were plump and succulent. |
Both of our third dishes were in the containers made of copper, |
We took another picture of Poirot with the Christmas tree in the front yard of the Capitol. |
Outside the museum are several models of Indian houses (I guess). |
The statue of the American Indian. |
I forgot what this was, but like its humorous face! |
This is the work named "Spatial Concept: Nature" by Lucio Fontana. |
This is (the part of) "Last Conversation Piece" by Juan Muñoz. |
This is by Joan Miró, called "Woman (Personage)". |
