After my husband came back from work, we visited the La Jolla Cove area. |
Very skinny tall palm trees (?). |
Lots of seals were on this small island, sunbathing. |
We found pelicans, too!! |
They looked so comfortable and happy lying down under the sun. I wanted to do the same! |
Then we came to the nearby restaurant, Georges California Modern. |
Lots of wine bottles near the entrance! |
This restaurant offers a gorgeous ocean view. Luckily, our table was by the window and we could enjoy this beautiful view. |
The sour dough bread. My husband doesn't like sour dough, but I do. |
I had a cocktail called "Violet Sunset" (but I ordered it virgin). |
My husband had Pinot Noir (Couer de Terre, 2008, Willamette Valley, McMinnville, OR). |
The tiny portion of Greek salad was served as the amuse bouche. |
While we were waiting for our order, the sun was getting set. We couldn't get a good picture but it was very beautiful. |
I thought the lobster was good, but my husband said he preferred ones in Maine... |
My main dish was the local yellowtail with carrot-miso puree, bok choy, tangerine butter. |
Inside the fish was still raw - it was perfectly cooked!! |
My husband chose the roasted duck breast with fennel puree, rhubarb, glazed pearl onions, strawberries, almond crusted foie gras, duck jus. |
The duck meat was beautifully cooked - very tender and juicy. |
This is the foie gras (I didn't taste it). The green strawberries were pickled in vinegar. It was very interesting. |
For the dessert, we shared the "passion fruit savarin" with coconut custard, mango chutney, pineapple mochi, lotus chip, and black sesame ice cream. |
