 お次はシュヴェルニー城 (Château de Cheverny) へ。Next, we went to Château de Cheverny. |
 このお城の土地は、シュベルニー公爵でありルイ11世の戦争会計係でも合ったアンリ・ユローによって購入されたそうで、その後何度もお城の持ち主は変わりますが、今はまたユロー家一族の所有となっています。The lands were purchased by Henri Hurault, comte de Cheverny, a lieutenant-general and military treasurer for Louis XI. Since then ownership passed to many owners, but it was bought back by the Hurault family who still owns it. |
 このお城は1914年、他のお城にに先駆けて一般公開が始まったそうです。税金対策か、それとも修繕費・維持費が必要だったのでしょうか？？In 1914, the owner opened the chateau to the public, one of the first to do so. |
 それぞれの部屋はすばらしい調度品やタペストリーなどで飾られています。Each room is decorated with the collection of furniture, paintings and tapestries. |
 武器等も展示されています。The collection of weapons is also exhibited. |
 このウェディングドレスは現在の城主の結婚式のときに実際に着用されたものだそうです。This wedding dress was worn at the current owner's wedding ceremony. |

 さらに進んでいくと小さな噴水がありました。A small fountain. |
 左右対称ですね。Very symmetric structure. |
 枝が横にすごく伸びた木があって、すごく登ってみたかったのですが木登り禁止のサインがあり、断念。きっとみんな考えることは同じなんでしょうね。You are not allowed to climb this big tree (there is a sign) although I was very tempted. I guess everyone feels the same way... |
 お城の池には白鳥が泳いでいます。Swans in the pond. |
 敷地内には100匹ぐらいの猟犬が飼われています。私たちが訪れた時にはお昼寝中でした。今でも週に2度、狩をするときのためだそうです。思わずお留守番している Poirot を思い出してちょっと寂しくなりました。A pack of ~100 dogs are also kept on the grounds and are taken out for hunts twice weekly. It was a nap time when we visited there. It reminded me of Poirot (I know he doesn't look like a hunting dog, but still...) and made me miss him very much. |
 お城の駐車場の脇に、地元のワインを売っているお店がありました。無料で試飲もできます。By the parking lot, there was a local wine shop. They also offered free wine tasting. |
 ワインはやっぱり安いですね。とりあえず、1本購入しました。Wine was very cheap everywhere. Just bought one bottle at this shop. |
