Halloween in Salem, MA

明後日はハロウィーンですね！ということで今夜はセーラム (Salem) という街へ行って来ました。ボストンからは車で30分位で行けます。セーラムは魔女裁判（1692年3月1日にはじまる一連の裁判で、200名近い村人が魔女として告発され、19名が処刑、1名が拷問中に圧死、5名が獄死したそうです）が行われたことで有名で、今ではそれが観光の目玉になっています。特に10月（ハロウィーンの季節）には毎年多くの観光客がやって来ます。 Halloween is coming!  So we went to Salem, MA, which is famous for the witch trials.  Every year especially in October (Halloween season), many people visit Salem.

街はハロウィーン一色です。 The entire city celebrates Halloween.

お店のショーウィンドーもそれぞれユニークなハロウィーンの飾り付けがしてあって、楽しめます。 Each shop decorates their show-windows with Halloween themes.

街には仮装している人たちがあふれています。このグループはフルーツや野菜のコスチューム。 Many people are wearing various costumes.  This is the fruits/vegetables group.

セクシーなお姉ちゃんもいます。今夜はすごく寒かったのですが、こんな薄着で風邪引いちゃうんじゃないかと人ごとながら心配になります。 Ladies with sexy costumes.  It was very old tonight, and I was worried they might catch cold!

お化け屋敷などのアトラクションもたくさんあって、大勢の人が列を作って入場を待っています。 There are many haunted houses and other attractions, and many people are waiting in line to get in.

この仮装カップルは大人気でたくさんの人が写真を撮っていました。 This couple in the costume was very popular and many people took their pictures.

もちろんかぼちゃもあります。 And of course pumpkin lanterns.

夜店も色々出ています。 There are various street food shops as well.

これはセーラムに来るたびに（ハロウィーンの時しか来たことありませんが）たべる、りんご入りのシナモンブレッドとバニラアイスクリーム。暖かいシナモンブレッドと冷たいアイスクリームの組み合わせが最高です。 We always get an apple cinnamon bun with ice cream.  The combination of warm bun and cold ice cream is the best!

牛の Poirot も食べたそうにしています。今夜の Poirot はいつもにも増して大人気で、すれ違う人達から可愛いと言われてちょっと得意げでした。 Poirot, the cow, stared at the plate, hoping he got a small piece of the bun.  Poirot was very popular tonight, and many people passing by complimented his costume.  He looked very proud of himself!

ポップコーンも買いました。これも来るたびに買うアイテムで、塩味と砂糖の甘い味が合わさった、やみつきになる味です。 We also bought two bags of popcorn.  Every time we visit here, we buy this item.  It tastes salty yet sweet and once you start, you can't stop eating.

観覧車などの乗り物もあります。よく見ると、真ん中の絵は箒に乗った魔女です。 A Ferris wheel.  At the center, can you see a witch on broom?

Poirot はまたまたおねむです。 Poirot, as usual, was sleepy in the car.
