Wilson Farm

今日は朝早くから近くに来る用事があったので、その後 Wilson Farm に立ち寄ってみました。建物の外壁は様々な種類のかぼちゃで飾られています。ニューイングランド地方はもうすっかり秋です。 This morning we had come nearby, so we stopped at Wilson Farm.  Wide variety of pumpkins (squashes?) decorated the outside wall of the building.  Autumn has come to New England!

ここは言ってみれば Wilson Farm という農場直営のスーパーマーケット (?) みたいなもので、農場で採れた野菜や果物 (もちろんここの農場以外で採れたものもありますが)、さらにはお肉やお魚、チーズ、パン・ケーキ、生花なども売っています。かなり歴史があるようで、1884年からやっているらしいです。 Wilson Farm is a 127-year-old family-run farm and it sells their produce (and much more, including meat, fish, fresh flowers, cheese, baked goods, etc).

この季節はやっぱりかぼちゃ。これはデコレーション用のかぼちゃなので食べられません (食べられるのかもしれませんがおいしくないと思います)。 Many pumpkins!  I didn't buy it here, but need to get some.

9月になるとあちこちでハロウィーン用の飾り付けを売っているのを見かけます。 And also various decorations for Halloween were sold.

これはお店の前で作っていたアップルサイダードーナッツ。9月は林檎のシーズンでもあるので、生の林檎はもちろんのことアップルサイダーやそれを使ったお菓子などもよく見かけます。 They were also making apple cider donuts on site.

もちろん私達も買ってみました。でもドーナツとしては普通においしいのですが、林檎の味はほとんどしないような…。まあアップルサイダーはあまり好きではないので別にいいんですけどね。 Of course we had to get some!  But while donuts were warm and tasty, I didn't taste any apple cider flavor in them...  Well, it was OK for me though, as I am not a big fan of apple cider..
