Today we came to a Taiwanese restaurant, Sweet Potato Bistro, in Newton with our friend couple. This restaurant opened sometime this year and relatively new - this was our first visit. On weekends, they serve Taiwanese breakfast. It's located near Chung Shin Yuan which has similar menus on weekends. |
Sweet soy milk. Soy milk essential to Taiwanese breakfast, but this one was not so good. |
Dried tofu salad. This is one of my favorites. I always order it at Chung Shin Yuan. This version was not bad, either. |
Seaweed salad. Lots of garlic and good, too. |
Jellyfish salad. My husband didn't like it very much, but I loved its texture and flavor. |
Cuttlefish soup. I love this soup at Shilin Night Market in Taipei, but in restaurants in US, only dried cuttlefish (not fresh one) is used (so I don't order it in US). But our waitress told us that they used fresh cuttlefish and thus we ordered it. But it had only tiny bit of the fresh one and mostly the dried one. It was totally different version of Shilin Night Market's. Disappointing... |
Steamed bun with pork and pickle. This was very good. |
Steamed bun with vegetarian ham. I did not taste it. |
Taro cake. This was my favorite of the day. Very yummy. |
Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings). They were not as good as Dintaifung's (to me, xiaolongbao at Dintaifung is the reference). I tried xiaolongbao at various restaurants in US, but none of them served better ones than Dintaifung... |
