Tonight we wanted to eat some sushi. We thought about Sushi Island and Toraya, but since we haven't been to Toraya for such a long time, we decided to go there. Toraya is a tiny Japanese restaurant in Arlington, with only ~20 seats. We came early (~5:30 pm) to secure our table. We were the first one there tonight, but within 10 min of our arrival, all the seats were occupied.
A large bottle of Kirin beer. |
Fried shishamo (willow leaf fish in English). They were a bit smaller than ones I generally find in Japan, but good! |
Fried octopus. This was also good - not rubbery texture. |
Seafood salad. It had shrimp, salmon and salmon roe, yellowtail, imitation carb, etc. |
Tofu hotpot. The firm tofu was used in this dish, but I prefer the silken tofu... |
For sushi, we ordered 3 kinds from today's special menu - Spanish mackerel, fluke, and whelk. |
