Trip to Taiwan-Japan Days 1-2 (Boston - 台北 (Taipei))

3月16日から4月1日まで台湾&日本に里帰りしてきました!夫は一足早く台湾に帰っていたので行きは一人旅です。

From March 16 to April 1 we went back to Taiwan & Japan (my husband left earlier and I had to travel by myself from the US to Taiwan).

いつものようにデルタ航空を使ったのですが、アメリカから成田までの飛行機では相変わらずのまずい食事。まず最初にチキン。チキンも付け合せの野菜も水っぽくて一口でギブアップ。

As usual, we flew with Delta, and as usual the meals served on the plane from Detroit to Tokyo were terrible…  The first meal was chicken (or beef) – it was just bad and I took only one bite..
二度目の食事はまたしても焼飯。これもやっぱりいつものようにおいしくない…。

The second meal was the fried rice.  This was bad, too…
成田から台北までの乗り継ぎを待っている間、デルタ航空のラウンジで一休み。やっと少しましな食べ物にありつけました…。台北までのフライトでも機内食が出たのですが写真をとり忘れ、何が出たのか忘れてしまいました。

At Narita Airport, I killed the time at the Delta’s lounge until I took a connection flight to Taipei.  Finally I could have some decent food…  Another meal was served during the flight to Taipei, but I didn’t take a picture of it and don’t remember what was served.
空港には夫と、彼のお父さん、姪っ子と甥っ子が迎えにきてくれていました。着いたのは夜11時半くらいでしたが、明日は日曜で学校もお休みということで、空港からそのままいつも行く24時間営業のお粥屋さん、一流清粥小菜にみんなで直行!

My husband, his father, niece and nephew were waiting for me at the airport.   I arrived at around 11:30 pm, but since the next day was Sunday and the school (for niece and nephew) was off, we decided directly to go to the porridge restaurant (I don't know the English name) that my husband and I always go on the day of arrival (which is open for 24 h).
お店の入り口を開けるとこのようにおかずがずら~っと並んでいて、ここから好きなものを注文します。もう真夜中12時を過ぎているのにお店はほぼ満席。小さな子供連れの家族もいてちょっとびっくり。

Inside the restaurant, small dishes are displayed on a big, long table and you can pick any dish you like from here.  It was already after midnight when we came here, but almost all the tables were occupied.   I saw small babied with their family, too!
さつまいも入りのお粥は食べ放題。香港風のお粥とは違い、日本のお粥にかなり近いです。

The porridge (with sweet potatoes) is all-you-can-eat.  It’s different from the Hong Kong style porridge, but very similar to the Japanese one.
今日は5人なのでいつもよりたくさんのおかずを注文してみました。これは私がいつも注文する、いかをゆでたもの。

Since we were group of 5 people, we could order more dishes than usual.  This is the dish we almost always order - boiled squid.
これも定番の白身魚の煮物。下から温めているので熱々が楽しめます。

This is the sauteed white fish.  The dishes that are supposed to be served hot were warmed up on the table and you can enjoy the piping hot dishes.
こちらはお豆腐の煮物。

This is the sauteed tofu.
お茄子の炒め物。これは初めて食べたのですがご飯が進むおいしさ (写真がぼけててすいません)。

The sauteed eggplant.  I had this dish first time here, but it was very good with rice (sorry for the bad picture...).
筍の煮物。ピリ辛です (これも写真写りが悪いですね)。

The bamboo shoot.  A bit spicy (this picture is bad, too..).
これは食べてないので何だかわかりません…。

I didn't eat this and don't know what it was...
これは酸豆角とよばれるさやいんげん (?) を発酵したもの。

This is the pickled beans (sour flavor).
おじゃこと青菜の煮物。これもほぼ毎回注文します。あっさりしていておいしいんです。

The green vegetable and small fish.  This is our must-have dish as well.  It's very light and tasty.
そしてこれまた私の好物、子持ちししゃもの揚げ物。時差ぼけのせいもあり、とってもおなかがすいていたのですごい勢いでもりもりと食べてしまいました…。

This is also my favorite, fried willow fish.  I guess due to the jet lag, I was very hungry and ate a lot...
食後は姪っ子が明日の朝ごはんを買うというので数件隣のお店へ行きました。何度も言うようですが、真夜中なのにこのお店にもかなりのお客さんが食事を取っています。

After we left the restaurant, we stopped by at the restaurant a few doors down to get something for the breakfast (not for me but for the niece and nephew). 
ここで豆乳と油條を買って、夫の家に帰りました。疲れているのですが、体内時計はまだお昼なので寝られません~。

We got soy milk and fried dough then went back to my husband's home.  But I couldn't sleep as my body was still in the US time zone...
