Trip to Taiwan-Japan Day 5 (2)(台北 (Taipei))

For the last dinner in Taiwan, we came to eat one of my favorites, the Peking duck, to this restaurant (sorry, I don't know the English name).  Most of the time, when we travel, I am the one who decides where and what to eat (I love to make travel plans).  But the exception is when we are in Taiwan and my husband is in charge.  This restaurant is my husband's recommendation.

Since we were a group of 5 people, we ordered from the course menu with 10 or so different dishes.

The first dish was the salad containing Chinese cabbage, scallions, dried tofu, peanuts, etc.  Very light and refreshing.

The cold dish with chicken, cucumbers and rice noodles (our waitress tried to mix the dish before we took a picture, so it doesn't very nice here - sorry).

The sizzling beef.  Since my Peking duck was waiting for me, I restrained myself from overeating prior to that - so I skipped this dish.  I could imagine its taste without actually tasting it.

The steamed shrimp - simple yet tasty.  I was so concentrating on removing the shell..

This is somewhat similar to a leek pie (a bigger version), but was sooo yummy.  I could have eaten all of it by myself, but by the time I was already full and could eat only one piece.  Very unfortunate!

The steamed fish.  It was not very special.

The season's vegetables.  A lot of garlic slices!

And finally, today's main guest, the Peking duck!  It was delivered to our table for cutting.

First, the skin was sliced.

Then the meat.  The whole process went so quick.

I don't think it took more than 1 minute from the start to the end.

Immediately after the beautiful demonstration, I wrapped a piece of skin, scallion and the tian mian jiang sauce in a thin layer of flour (?) dough, and ate it!  Heaven in mouth!  By the way, I usually eat only skin as I don't like duck meat.

And at last, the soup from duck bones (the leftover from the Peking duck).  The sour pickles, tofu and green bean noodles among other stuff were in it.  It was very good as well.  We ate this much (and other people ordered several bottles of beer) but the price was very reasonable - $30 or so per person.  Ah~, as usual, I enjoyed Taiwan so much during this trip.  We'll move to Japan tomorrow~
