Trip to Portugal Day 4 (4) (Lisbon)

ベレンの塔を出て、発見のモニュメントに向かってテージョ川に沿いを歩きます。途中でおしゃれなレストランを発見。おなかも減ったことなのでここでお昼ご飯を食べることにしました。 After enjoying the Belém Tower, we walked toward the Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos) along the Tejo River.  On the way, we found a stylish restaurant, and since we were hungry, we decided to eat here.

レストランからはテージョ川が見渡せます。 The restaurant is faced to the river.

喉が渇いたので炭酸水を注文。 Since I was thirsty, I ordered a bottle of sparkling water.

本日のスープ。 We both ordered today's soup.

私はここ数日の野菜不足を補うためにサラダをオーダーしました。モッツアレラチーズがすごく柔らかくてフレッシュ。バルサミコ酢のドレッシングも量がちょうどよくておいしかったです。 I was craving fresh vegetables, so I ordered the salad with tomatoes and mozzarella.  Mozzarella was very soft and fresh.  And the amount of dressing was just enough and it was good.

夫はトマトやオリーブの入ったサンドイッチを注文。 My husband ordered the sandwich with olives, tomatoes and cheese.

食後にコーヒー。シナモンスティックが付いてきました。 Coffee after the meal.  It came with cinnamon sticks.

食後はまた川に沿って歩きます。ここは魚釣りのスポット？ Then we continued to walk along the river.  Does this sign mean this is a good fishing spot??

モニュメントが近づいてきました。モニュメントの中に入り、切符を買ってエレベーターでモニュメントの頂上へ行きます。 We bought tickets to go inside the monument, then took the elevator to the top of it.

頂上はめちゃくちゃ高くて高所恐怖症の人には怖いかも。 It is very high.  It must be scary if you are acrophobia.

ここからはジェロニモス修道院とその更に向こう側にあるスタジアムまでよく見えます。 From here, we could see the Jerónimos Monastery and the stadium behind it.

モニュメント正面にある石畳も上から見ると全体像がわかっていいですね。 From the top, the pavement in front of the monument can be seen clearly.

この石畳は、多くのポルトガル人航海者が辿った航路を示す世界地図のモザイクになっています。日本も右端のほうにちゃんとあります。 This pavement features a mosaic decoration showing a world map with the routes of various Portuguese explorers and a wind rose.  We could find Japan, too!

下に降りて、日本の地図と一緒に写真撮影。1541年というのはポルトガル船が豊後に漂着した年だそうです。 After coming down from the monument, I took a picture of "Japan".

夫は出身地の台湾を指差しています。 My husband was pointing to "Taiwan" where he is originally from.

もちろんポルトガルもあります。 Of course Portugal is on it, too.

そしてこちらがアメリカ大陸。 And this is the North American continent.

地図のほかにも海に関連したモチーフがたくさんあります。 In addition to the world map, many other motifs related to the ocean.

人魚。     A mermaid.

これは潮を吹いているから鯨でしょうか？ユニークな顔ですね。 Is this a whale??  Funny face.
