On the way, we found a sign indicating "Castelo", so we knew we were on the right track. |
Beautiful Azulejo on the wall of a residential house. |
The colorful houses are typical in Southern Europe. It reminded me of Puerto Rico (I guess this is the original version..). |
Roads are very narrow and like a big maze. |
Followed the sign to the castle. |
Finally, we arrived at the gate of the castle. |
We then bought tickets to enter the castle. |
This is the entrance to the castle. |
The entrance gate permits access to the main square (Praça d'Armas), which is decorated with old cannons. |
From the main square, an impressive panorama of Lisbon is visible. |
This small statue reminded me of Poirot, who is waiting for our return at Laifu's house (Poirot's friend). |
Visitors can reach the walkway atop the wall and the towers through stairways. |
I found a pretty cat on the step. |
The top of the walls is quite high. |
It must have been difficult for enemies to overcome such high walls. |
The castle is encircled by the wall. |
We walked all the way along the wall, climbing up and down the stairways. |
We enjoyed a 360-degree view of the city; nothing blocked our view. |
I felt amazed when I imagined ancient people walking the very same place I was now. |
Portugal's national flag at the top of the tower. |
Very steep steps. I guess we could have gone back to the city through these steps, but I didn't want to fall down so we took the same way back. |
I don't know why, but there were many (7~8) peacocks. |
I forgot to check the name of this guy.. |
Before we returned the hotel, we took a last look at the beautiful view of Lisbon... |
